I’ll introduce three carefully selected sightseeing and hot spring spots in Kyushu that I recommend.

1.大分 鉄輪温泉
湯けむりが集中する鉄輪。大分県は別府温泉！というイメージがありますが僕はこの鉄輪の街並みも含めて好きなので大分では鉄輪めがけて旅に行きます。
Kannawa, where steam from hot springs gathers. Oita Prefecture is known for its Beppu hot springs! But I also like the townscape of Kannawa, so I’m heading to Kannawa when I’m in Oita.
鉄輪は和風な落ち着く旅館も多く散歩をしても落ち着いた風景を堪能できます
Kanawa has many relaxing Japanese-style inns, and you can enjoy the tranquil scenery even while taking a walk.
温泉のお供に地獄蒸しという料理はいかがでしょうか？
How about trying a dish called Jigoku Mushi to accompany your hot spring bath?
鉄輪には上のような施設が幾つかあります。この地獄蒸し料理というのは温泉の高温の料理により好みの食料を蒸して美味しく頂ける料理になります
There are several facilities like the one above in Kannawa. This Jigoku-mushi cuisine is a delicious way to steam your favorite foods using the high temperature of the hot spring.

I recommend “Kurodaya”!
当旅館は、敷地内から湧き出る源泉100％のかけ流し温泉となっております。
This inn uses 100% free-flowing hot spring water that flows from the source on the premises.
温泉の湯は最高なのはもとい、
Not only is the hot spring water the best,
部屋から見える風景も最高で温泉で温まった後に見る湯けむりが奏でる幻想的な夜景は最高です！
but the view from the rooms is also amazing, and the fantastic night view created by the steam after warming up in the hot spring is amazing!
2.佐賀県 嬉野温泉
佐賀・嬉野温泉は、島根県の斐乃上温泉、栃木県の喜連川温泉と並んで『日本三大美肌の湯』と呼ばれています。
Saga’s Ureshino Onsen is known as one of Japan’s Three Great Hot Springs for Beautiful Skin, alongside Hinokami Onsen in Shimane Prefecture and Kiryugawa Onsen in Tochigi Prefecture.
嬉野温泉のぬめりのあるお湯は、ナトリウムを多く含む重曹泉です。
The slimy waters of Ureshino Onsen are sodium bicarbonate springs that contain a lot of sodium.
嬉野温泉は、びっくりするくらいお湯がトロトロなんです！
The waters of Ureshino Onsen are surprisingly viscous!
誇張していうと「温泉が持てる！」というくらい何か今までに感じたことないくらいの水というモノを感じます。
To exaggerate, it’s like you can “hold the hot spring!” You’ll feel something like water you’ve never felt before.
そのトロトロなお湯は体の芯から温めてくれて温泉から上がった後も長時間温泉の余韻を堪能できます

佐賀県は何といっても湯どうふ！温泉と合わせて堪能するべし！

Onsen Yu Tofu is a dish you should definitely try on your trip to Saga Prefecture!
口当たりの滑らかなとうふはさらりと食べることができ普段の豆腐とは全くの別物！

3.鹿児島県 指宿（いぶすき）温泉
西郷隆盛が愛した温泉としても有名で、何度も湯治に訪れたといいます。篤姫が18歳まで過ごしたゆかりの地としても知られるなど、遺跡や文化財が数多く存在するので、歴史を探訪して歩いてみるのもおすすめです。
It is also famous as a hot spring beloved by Saigo Takamori, who is said to have visited it many times for therapeutic baths. It is also known as the place where Princess Atsuhime spent her first 18 years of her life, and there are many ruins and cultural assets, so it is recommended to take a walk around exploring the history.
なんといっても指宿温泉といえば「砂蒸し風呂」ではないでしょうか？
When you think of Ibusuki Onsen, the first thing that comes to mind is the sand bath.
温かい砂の上に寝ころび全身を覆われることで体を温めます。
You warm up your body by lying down on the warm sand and covering it all over.
近年の研究から砂蒸し風呂は普通の温泉の3~4倍の効果があるとも言われています
Recent research has shown that sand baths are three to four times more effective than regular hot springs.
男だからこそ漢を学ぶ「知覧平和特攻記念館」
第二次世界大戦末期に編成された大日本帝国陸軍航空隊の特攻に関する資料を展示しています。また、知覧特攻平和会館が建てられている場所とその周辺は、知覧平和公園として整備されています。
This museum displays materials related to the kamikaze attacks of the Imperial Japanese Army Air Corps, which was formed at the end of World War II. The Chiran Peace Museum and its surrounding area have been developed as Chiran Peace Park.
あの頃、勇敢に散っていった漢たちを知ることが出来る記念館になります。
This is a memorial museum where you can learn about the men who died bravely at that time.
今のような平和な状況でもないあの頃、我々のこの国を守ろうと奮闘した英雄を知り、心に刻むのも一つの旅行の醍醐味ではないでしょうか？
One of the joys of traveling is to learn about the heroes who fought to protect our country at a time when the situation was not as peaceful as it is today, and to have them engraved in your heart.
館内にはほぼ当時の姿のままの零戦を見ることが出来ます
Inside the museum, you can see a Zero fighter that is almost exactly as it was at the time.
当時、最強と呼ばれたその機体は戦いを終えて後世にその悲惨さを己の姿で教えてくれます。
甲板は他と比べて薄く、運動性能に特化した故に「悪魔」と呼ばれたその戦闘機を鹿児島へ行った際には見なければいけないでしょう
